Liz, mother of two breastfed daughters

Liz content photo“Even though I work full time as a manager at an insurance company, I was determined to breastfeed my two daughters. I was able to take 3 months of maternity leave, which helped me to get breastfeeding off to a good start. Once back at work, I found a way to make it work!

Luckily, my employer encourages employees to breastfeed (I think they know that helping me to breastfeed my girls has made me a happier and more dedicated employee). I happen to have an office to pump in, but State Farm provides lactation rooms and break times for moms, as well as a refrigerator to store pumped milk in.

Working full time and breastfeeding has been very positive for me, but it has also been hectic. Since I am on the go, I have to be very creative. Sometimes my babies have traveled with me for business trips. This has meant heavier suitcases and a whole new use of hotel mini fridges! But I am appreciative of my employer - and I think it has made me a better employee when I can continue to breastfeed my baby.”
