Azusa content photoI returned to work outside the home when my son was 8 weeks old. Many of my co-workers have breastfed and pumped while at work, so I knew that it was possible. Because I am a nurse and my schedule is busy, it does take extra work and time, but I feel it is worth it. When I am pumping at work, I feel connected to my son - like I am still taking care of him even though I am away from him. Plus, the money that our family is saving makes it all worthwhile!

Chelsea content photoI am very lucky to have a baby-friendly part time job with WIC as a peer counselor to breastfeeding moms. Because I am breastfeeding both my 2 year old and my 5 month old (which is known as tandem nursing), I like to think I am setting a good example. At least the moms that I work with know that I am speaking from experience!

Rachel content photo"When my baby was 8 weeks old I returned to work full time. My employer, a general contractor, has been very supportive. As a result, returning to work while breastfeeding has been a very pleasant experience. All it really takes is a private room that moms can use to take a break and pump several times over a work day. But what has really helped is when an employer acknowledges that breastfeeding is important and understands that a mom’s priorities taking care of her baby need to mesh with her focus at work."
